Gourmet Coffee Gifts for Mother’s Day

It is that time of year again when we pay tribute to the single, most important lady in our lives–our mom. Mother’s day is often a day filled with gifts and activities as we try to make it as special for her as possible. And because mother knows best, she probably does not even want you to go out for your way just to get her something extraordinary or expensive. This may be a good opportunity to introduce her to something simple yet novel–gourmet coffee.

Even if your mother stays at home and does not work, keep in mind that she is kept busy by numerous household chores. Giving her something complicated like electronic items may just end up with the gift being neglected because she simply does not have the time to use it. Food and beverage items are most likely closer to her heart especially if she spends a lot of time in the kitchen.

Most reputable coffee vendors pack their products in shiny, well-designed foil bags that make them elegant gifts. Bundling different types in a basket makes the gift even more classy. Aside from being simple and elegant, here are a few more reasons why gourmet coffee makes a wonderful gift for mom:

  • Different flavors to choose from. There is always a coffee flavor to delight anybody’s palate–from premium, exotic Hawaiin Kona coffee and Blue Mountain coffee to flavored coffee types to the regular house blends. The choices are many. Some vendors even offer a sampler package where you get a little bit of this and that.
  • Brings out the scientist in mom. Some of the greatest discoveries were made in the kitchen. We will not even attempt to expound on this reason. Just leave it to mom to mix, match, blend, or shake the coffee and come up with one of her amazing kitchen creations.
  • Make her learn something new. Notice how some of those fancy packs of coffee have an entire short story printed at the back? It should make good reading for mom especially when her favorite magazine subscription does not arrive on time.
  • Leaves no mess in her kitchen. All she has to do is open up the bag, scoop out the appropriate amount, pour it in the coffee maker and that is pretty much it.
  • Gives mom something to brag to her friends about. When mom goes out with her group or chats with her friends on the phone, she is sure to tell them about the great new coffee she just discovered, thanks to you.
  • Something handy to serve her visitors. And you can be sure she will let her visitors know who gave her the wonderful coffee.
  • A gift that keeps giving. Mom does not have to think too hard next time she has to give a gift to relatives or friends. She will just give the same kind of coffee you have given her, her relatives and friends will love her for it, and she will be the star.

So as you can see, nothing makes a more versatile gift than gourmet coffee. The challenge for you now is to find out what kind of coffee maker she has, whether she can grind the coffee herself and maybe whether she needs a new coffee mug. Once you have all that information, shopping is the easy part especially if you choose to do it online. Your knowledge and expertise in gourmet coffee will guide you along the way because this time around, you know best.

I have no idea what to get my mom for Mother's Day!?
Yes, I know it’s today but I won’t see my mom until Tuesday. I’ll give her a call this afternoon. I’m going to the store to try to find something for her. I always seem to get her the same thing: chocolates, gourmet coffees, a cd or dvd.

I was kind of thinking of the same thing. I know she likes the food gifts and will use them. She listens to the cd’s in her car and will watch the dvd. I tried to get her a book also last year, but I don’t think she read it.

I have to get smaller items: my mom’s an amazing woman, but she’s quite the packrat. My dad even tells me when I’m shopping for my mom to not get anything she doesn’t need or wouldn’t use because she never gets rid of anything! Also, I’m a poor college student. If I could stop by the jewelers and pick her up a diamond bracelet I would but that wouldn’t be happening anytime soon, I have no money : (

Thanks for the suggestions! And if you’re a mom, happy Mother’s Day to you!

me being the person i am, i dont like doing anything cliche or unoriginal. if shes a packrat, then id advise not getting something material. take her on a lil adventure, taker her out, make a memorable experience, have her enjoy life! =] plan something out well, and give her the unexpected.

    hope this helps

First things first, Cody – nice pic!

Okay now to the mother’s day thing. What does your mom like? If she like to do yard work then you could get some flower seeds or bulbs for her to put in the yard. Then she can enjoy them when they grow and it’s not junk cluttering the house. How about bird feeders? Again, outside not in. Think about it. I’m sure something will come to you.

Flowers and chocolate. Also a nice breakfast in bed, with her fave magazine or her fave T.V show or movie.

How about a nice buquet of flowers…i know she’s not going to "use" them, but she’ll have to throw them away after they die. or you could stick with the food gifts but spice it up a bit, like get a gift basket made up with something she likes. or take a stab at baking your favortite treat that she used to make you as a kid, and write something in the card on how you used to love when she made these for you…that would just melt her heart:)

You should get a frame with some sort of phrase on it (i.e. "I love you mom," #1 mom," etc–you get my drift)nand put a picture of the two of you in it. It is simple yet brilliant. It won’t cost much, it isn’t something that she won’t use, and it expresses creativity.

What I would do is Find a picture of you and her together, frame it, then add a Mother’s Day poem to it.
(You could probably find one off the internet, even if you don’t write it, i’m sure she’ll love it.)
Then make plans to spend the whole day together if possible.
Take her to a movie she’s been wanting to see then maybe out to dinner?
Finally, top it off with a spring scented candle that she’d like or some flowers.
tell her how much you appreciate her.
    Best of Luck

    How about asking her?
I know that this way the present won’t be surprise but at least you will be getting her something that she really wants!
If she says she wants nothing, then how about doing her chores for her and cooking all her meals, then giving her a a massage. Or you could blindfold her and drive her to a spa or a manicure place (something along those lines) for a surprise and pay for all her pampering there.
Or you could go to a chocolatier place and get her name and a Happy Mother’s Day message on some chocolate, everyone likes a bit of personalized choccy!
You could even do all this on top of the standard DVD if you have enough money :)
